Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Excavator Machine Operator to join our team and operate heavy excavation equipment safely and efficiently on a harbor/port construction project
Duties & Responsibilities
Safely operate 30–35-ton crawler excavators in accordance with operational safety procedures. · Load excavated materials safely and efficiently onto dump trucks and other transport equipment. · Perform slope trimming and shaping to achieve the required site profiles. · Operate the excavator carefully around trucks, workers, structures, port equipment and other machinery. · Follow designated work areas, traffic routes and operational instructions within the harbour. · Conduct daily pre-start and post-operation inspections of the excavator. · Check critical components including hydraulic systems, engine oil, coolant, fuel, tracks, attachments, hoses and other moving parts. · Observe all port, occupational health and safety requirements, including the use of required PPE · Maintain accurate awareness of the work area and immediately report hazards, obstructions, unstable ground or unsafe conditions.

- Other Requirements
- Ø Minimum 3 years of practical experience operating excavators. Ø Must have a Plant Operator / Excavator Operator Certificate. Ø Experience with 30-35 tone crawler excavators preferred. Ø Contract duration not less than 18months. Ø Competent in excavation, truck loading, trenching, levelling, slope trimming and foundation works. Ø Understand daily inspection, greasing and basic preventive maintenance. Ø Able to identify overheating, leaks, hydraulic problems and abnormal noises and report promptly. Ø Basic knowledge of daily equipment inspection, maintenance, and fault identification. Ø Safe operation; no reckless or abusive machine operation. Ø Strong safety awareness with no record of major operational accidents. Ø Good teamwork and communication skills. Ø Basic English or Swahili communication skills to understand safety instructions and operational requirements. Ø Willingness to work in a busy harbor environment in Mombasa and follow strict site safety procedures.
